Staff – Mrs Norman, Mrs Moore and Mrs Chesterman.
What Year 2 have been up to this term…
At the beginning of term we were looking at Fire based poems and then writing our own poem based on our senses. In the last three weeks we have been learning how to write a diary entry. This has involved reading different diary entries and then writing our own.
In Maths, we have completed units on place value, addition and subtraction and we are now thinking about multiplication. We are trying to learn our 2, 5, and 10 times tables too.
Our topic this half term has been The Great Fire of London. We have found out lots of facts and created some lovely art work. We have also learned how materials have changed over the years and why many buildings were made of bricks instead of wood after the Great Fire of London in 1666. Our new topic is Ice, we will be looking at the Polar regions and the animals that live there.
Butterflies of Britain have continued to run our woodland session this year. We love our time in the woods.
Our PE days are Mondays and Thursdays. Please ensure your child has the full and correct PE kit on these days.
Our woodland session is on a Thursday morning. Please make sure your child has a long sleeved top, trousers and either trainers or wellies if it is wet/muddy.
Class Dojo is our main form of communication with parents. We try to post most days and this could be information about your child’s learning, reminders or general notices.
A home learning menu will be given out at the beginning of each half term. Your child will need to complete a minimum of 5 activities each half term, handing them in on a Thursday.
Please ensure your child’s clothing and belongings are clearly labelled including their woodland kit.
