Year Six Class Work

September/October 2009: Biographies

Why not dive into our Year Six literacy work on Biographies?

We wrote about Gerard Way, Alesha Dixon, Daniel Radcliffe, Fearne Cotton, Miley Cyrus, Gwyneth Rees, Johnny Depp, Adolf Hitler, Michael Jackson (three times!), Richard Hammond, Terry Deary and Winston Churchill.

The Writing Process

We each chose someone who interested us, and spent some time researching their life. We used the open source program XMind to make notes, and then began to turn those notes into our piece of writing.

Publishing Our Work

To put our work on the internet, Mr Speck showed us how to edit the html code he uses on our school website - that's why our work looks just like the rest of the school website. Our work was already in paragraphs, so all we had to do was paste in our text and make links to the images, making sure we didn't accidentally alter any of the code.

For example, some of our code looks like this:

We hope you enjoy reading them!
